Approximately 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.

Large Hailstones and Broad Destruction

Homeowners witnessed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7 centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Weather Woes

At the same time, nearly one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams handled 598 calls for help across the area, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

• Hoppers Crossing - various emergency calls
• Wyndham area - nearly 180 emergency requests

At one point on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was predicted as the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across different parts of both areas.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
